Beethoven’s 9th Symphony

Today’s prompt at NaPoWriMo: Write a poem in the form of a fan letter to a celebrity.

On May 7, 1824, Beethoven presented his 9th Symphony to the world, with the deaf Maestro himself on the stage. What a moment it must have been when one of the singers, supposedly, turned him towards the audience for him to receive the standing ovation for the mighty work he could never hear, except in his head. I wanted to write a poetic letter that reflected all of that, with an “Ode to Joy” like punch at the end of the poem. Alas, all I came up with was this:

BEETHOVEN’s NINTH

To Ludwig van B:
Thank you for the Ninth.
You rock.
